Be thou loose from details....

Finally took a proper picture of the sketch I did at Tiong Bahru - not the usual approach I suppose since I wasn't using the Hero pen. Used a 5B pencil for a light quick sketch of the location and painted direct with watercolor... really enjoyed this piece as I thought it to be quite liberating.

While the sun popped in and out of the clouds, I was trying to capture the brilliance of the sunlight on the facade of the building... while attempting to be more impressionistic with the details I am looking at in front of me. It was tough for me since I am always drawn to details and capturing the details is important in my drawing principle. So I kept telling myself to steer clear away from looking at too many things while I painted.

Besides I really enjoyed the company of other sketchers who have come together to spend a Saturday together. We sat by the roadside oblivious to on-lookers and curious admirers. We did out thing and performed our antics, including saving an eel from its ordeal of drowning in the sun. We got to reconnect with a sketcher whom we have not seen for sometime and got some good news from him too. It was one of the best Sat ever.

Urban sketching has made my Sat more enjoyable and meaningful. :D)

Another sketch I did - with 5B Lyra pencil.
